Why Slavonia?
Slavonia, a mighty plain that stretches in the east of Croatia, is a place where the power of nature and human labor come together perfectly. Here the sky seems wider and the sun brighter than anywhere else. Maybe it’s because of the plain that stretches into infinity, or because of the green fields that blend into the blue sky on the horizon.
When you set foot in Slavonia, you will feel the strength and beauty it carries within itself. A mighty land with strong rivers flowing through it, and fields lit by the sun, they take your breath away. Slavonia is a place where life is celebrated with the sounds of tambourines and songs that come from the hearts of people. Old customs can still be found here, and people are willing to share their rich culture and tradition with you.
But Slavonia is also a place where entrepreneurship develops and where agriculture rises to a new level. Innovative approaches in food production, with the support of local authorities, create new jobs and revive the economy. Slavonia has very fertile soil that is suitable for the cultivation of many agricultural crops. Most of the land in Slavonia is a river plain, and the most fertile parts are those around the Drava, Sava and Danube rivers. Slavonia has a large number of people who are engaged in agriculture and have many years of experience. Also, labor in Slavonia is relatively cheap compared to other parts of Europe. Slavonian local authorities often offer grants and subsidies to farmers to encourage the development of agriculture in the region. All these are factors that influence the development of agriculture and the opening of small family farms.
When you take into account all the natural factors that enrich this region, it is not surprising that Slavonia is the main and responsible for agriculture in Croatia.
